The
kennel name 'Nikonis' was granted
to Nikki and Syd Farley
in 1981 but their involvement
with the GSD began in the early
1970's when they started training and competing in
obedience in and
around the Midland area with the Birmingham West
branch of the British
Association of German Shepherd Dogs.
When their
first two shepherds, Max and Gabby,
reached their age of retirement it was
inevitable that the next generation
would be bred to carry on. Both
Nikki and Syd had qualified with
B.A.G.S.D.
as instructors and remained with the
club for over 10 years
serving in the capacity of officers and instructors. Nikki
now holds the position of
Vice-Chairman of the
G.S.D.
League of Great Britain. and
is a Tattoo-ist for the
National Dog Tattoo Register.
The learning curve from working stock to
show quality shepherds was steep with
many points of 'interesting
developments' along the way. However, their original lines have never
been abandoned and still continue as a
thread in the Nikonis
Kennels. The
kennel is now recognized as
one of the top producers of German
Shepherds for showing, working, service
and most importantly as quality family
companions.
To maintain this quality
means constantly reviewing and using
only the very best lines and dogs
available in England and Europe and to
date this has played a major
part in NIKONIS gaining the
following awards:- 3 Champions,
20 Challenge
Certificates, 26 Reserve
Challenge Certificates, 2 Junior
Warrants, 3 Green Stars, 1 C.A.C.I.B., 2 Working Groups and
1 Best In Show All Breed
Championship.
